As a Chef,I am not alien to guests requesting for their food to be cooked in olive oil rather. A lot of people aren't aware of the fact that olive oil isn't ideal for cooking as the smoking point of the oil is extremely low and it cannot withstand high temperatures. Olive oil is best when used for light sauteing or just as a salad dressing. And the notion that olive oil is healthier compared to all the oils out there is very wrong. One can use coconut oil and mustard oil which is very much readily available in our Indian markets and is suitable for Indian cooking too. One seriously doesn't need to burn a hole in their pockets to buy extra virgin olive oil. Use the things readily available in the market and local products. This will not only save you money,but will also help you make fitness a lifestyle.
