Refresh class is a great stress-buster, which can be practiced at any time. It uses a technique called Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), which is based on the premise that mental calmness is a natural result of physical relaxation.

In this class, you will stimulate different muscle groups one by one, and then relax them with a variety of techniques. Muscle tension is commonly associated with stress and fear, as a part of a process that prepares our bodies for potentially dangerous situations. For instance, we often clench our teeth or tighten our jaw without noticing it, which signifies an accumulation of stress and tension in our muscles.

By relieving this stress, we trigger the natural muscle relaxation response of the body, which also leads to a calmer, more relaxed mind. In addition to managing stress and anxiety, doctors have used Progressive Muscle Relaxation in combination with standard treatments for symptom relief in a number of conditions, including headaches, high blood pressure, and digestive disturbances.
