Protein is found throughout the body—in muscle, bone, skin, hair, and virtually every other body part or tissue. We all do daily activities everyday. There is some wear and tear in the body with each activity that is done. Proteins work and the repairing unit of the body. They replace all the dead and injured cells in the body with a new one. Also protein is involved in a large number of important chemical reactions in the body. Interestingly, proteins also give the same amount of energy as carbs. So, if we are unable to consume enough carbs, our body starts eating itself and a phenomenon happens, called muscle wasting. So an ample amount of carbs and proteins are required to keep the body well functioning. *Food sources* A.
