Cruciferous vegetables belong to a certain group of related plants. These vegetables are chemically unique & contain high levels of sulfur containing compound glucosinolates ;which gives them their distinctive smell👃 Cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, turnips, bok choy, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, kale etc. falls under this category of vegetables. 🥦 These glucosinolates & other chemicals present in these vegetables are considered goitrogens, which can interfere with the production of thyroid hormone, by disrupting iodine usage of the thyroid gland. ❎ Hence these vegetables need to be moderately (1-2 times per week or as per the severity of the hypothyroid condition) taken, to minimize the effects of goitrogens on the already hypoactive thyroid. ✅ But they're not necessarily harmful for a normally functioning thyroid. 💠
