Why sleeping on the side is good in pregnancy

In pregnancy prefer sleeping on your sides with knees bent. You sleep on your side, your aiways stays open making breathing easier. Sleeping on the side also helps with symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux. Any thoughts which side is better?

This is a wonderful recommendation. But i have one query, i am not pregnant but my whole life i have slept on stomach and as told by many it's not the right way to sleep. How am I supposed to change this. It's like first 30 min i can still sleep in the side but the moment i am slipping into deep sleep i go on my stomach. God know what will happen when I get a baby🥲
