Milk at night

Is it good to drink milk at the end of the day? It's a usual habit at many households I've seen in India, but what is it connected to? Is it even recommended?

Warm cup of milk with pinch of turmeric powder helps in improving the quality of your sleep so yes having it at bed time is not an issue unless you struggle with any gut related disorders like bloating/ acidity then you can skip this else it's fine!

Hi Radhe! Drinking warm milk usually helps in improving sleep quality & sometimes helps with gastric issues. Milk contains a protein called tryptophan which increases serotonin levels in your brain which in turn produces more sleep hormone- melatonin, hence most people feel drowsy after drinking warm milk. For digestion low fat milk acts as a temporary buffer to reduce the effect of stomach acid, but that's not for everybody as in some individuals with gut issues milk can be a trigger. Yes drinking a small cup to a glass of warm milk before bed is recommended but it's patient specific, especially if you're having specific gut issues.
