3 myths about Type 2 diabetes

1. "Diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar" Development of type 2 diabetes is dependent on uncontrollable risk factors (like race, genetics and gender) and controllable risk factors (like exercise and Nutrition). If this would be true, there would be many more people with type 2 diabetes. 2. "You just need to lose weight" While research shows weight may be risk factor for some - this is not always the case. Some people do not need to want to lose weight and will lower their A/c without focusing on the scale. 3. "Those with Diabetes have to eat special foods" People with Type 2 diabetes can eat any foods (including dessets!) with the right tools and knowledge.
