Eating less will not help you lose weight, eating right will. Never skip meals or stay hungry, start with honouring your hunger cues and nourish yourself with wholesome balanced meals. If in the name of a diet someone asks you to skip meals or sip on water instead of eating when you feel hungry, know that it's a red flag, never fall for that trap!
