The process of digestion starts from the mouth. When you chew the food enough, you allow proper mastication of food which is important for good digestion.

The trick is to chew your food till it loses it's texture, once you start doing that you will be absolutely aware of your physiological hunger and will never have to worry about your portion sizes. Chewing gives you enough time to recognise your satiety levels and helps you in taking portions that make you feel comfortably full !
