🚬 Is sitting the new smoking? 🚬 The amount of time many of us spend sitting down each day, whether at a desk, or in front of a screen creates health risks comparable to those caused by smoking. Research has shown that sedentary behavior contributes to obesity and metabolic syndrome, which can increase a person’s blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol levels and body fat. Adding exercise/movement and a balanced diet to your day will help reduce many of the health risks associated with sitting. Also, a few modifications to your routine can make a big difference. 🧘♀️Take breaks, stand intermittently and stretch during sedentary activities. 🧘♀️Enjoy a quick walk if you have a few minutes of free time or while taking phone calls. 🧘♀️ Use the stairs instead of the lift or escalator. 🧘♀️ Park further away from wherever you’re going and walk the rest of the way.
